Hamilton “Forbes”

17 Jewel Hamilton “Forbes” wristwatch. It’s a popular gold filled rectangular Hamilton watch Circa 1948. It is most noted for its vintage design and reliability.

It has raised gold applied applied 18K hour markers and hands and a second hand in the six o’clock position. Hamilton produced many of its dials from this era with an oyster-silver color known as a Butler finish. The “Forbes” has a manual-wind 747 movement with demasked bridges and plates. The 747 was one of Hamilton’s last American made movements produced from 1948-1954. Hamilton felt that everything they learned through the years, including their experience providing watches to the military in World War II went into the 747.
