Shortage of Watchmakers Causes Trouble for Owners of Vintage Timepieces

During the summer of 2015, I found three (3) 1937 Hamilton Wilshire Watches. Excitement stirred the air around my studio when I realized they were running. As I removed the cases, I found pristine dials. You wouldn’t suspect that given the obfuscation of the crystals.

The key word, crystal, stumped me. My sources of crystals had gone out of business. Making matters worse, I wanted glass.

I put my research hat on my head and reverted to an investigator. Without too much digging, I found someone able and willing to cut crystals for me. I thought that I traveled back in time when he quoted his price.

He might object to my giving out his name, just follow this link Crystal-Fit USA.

Daniel also does vintage watch repair. The link to that part of his website is Crystal-Fit Watch Repair.

Why is this important? Try finding a legitimate watchmaker who will fix a vintage watch in a few days. Maybe I should ask, try finding a watchmaker period.
