Would ETA make a 6/0 mechanical movement that fits Hamilton 987 cases?

I collect Hamilton wristwatches that house 987 movements and that’s all I collect. My collection starts with the 1922 Strap Watch for Men with a 986a 6/0 movement. In Swiss measurement’s it’s an 11 1/4 ligne movement.

I can see two uses for ETA releasing such a movement. First, they would make a nice replacement for 10’s of thousands of collectors. Think of the 6/0 Hamilton Military watches. Also consider the 987 models from 1917 to 1948. Parts for the original movements are difficult to find. A replacement movement would satisfy the demand for the retro market. I buy as many 987 models as possible, clean, oil and adjust them. I typically find them in non-working watches. Almost every one has a broken balance staff.

I also think  ETA – Swatch should consider releasing models that are replicas of the 100’s of Hamilton watches using the old 6/0 movements. I’d buy a new Cushion – that looks like the Cushion of old. That idea intrigues me buyers with whom I speak.

Hamilton’s new retro designs lack class. Think of a “real” Dodson. Below I have two photos of Hamilton watches – a 1938 Dodson and a 2012 model. I love the modern one. It’s an awesome timepiece. It’s not anything like the original.

I have nothing against the watch on the left. I’m even considering a purchase. When Christmas comes, I wonder how many original Hamilton models would sell next to their modern counter parts.

Here’s an example of a Hamilton Quartz Chronometer. It’s a good looking watch but I wonder how high Hamilton’s sales volume could reach if this was a manual watch with a Khaki movement. I’d buy it. I’d also consider it a natural evolution of one of the greatest American watches.
