Now is the time to buy Hamilton Vintage Wristwatches

The market for 1924-1950 Hamilton watches is depressed. If you have an eye on eBay auctions, then you know this already. If you don’t have your eyes on these, then take a look. This is 2013, but prices are back to 1995 levels.

Why? Unless you’re Rip Van Winkle and have slept through the last six years, you know the answer to this rhetorical question. It’s the economy. Regardless of what the government says about job and economic growth, we’re still in a de facto depression.

Here’s how we need to view the current data:

While the report (labor) showed that the economy generated 243,000 jobs in January, it’s important to remember the segment of unemployed being left behind.
What’s this mean? Few dollars are available to buy non-essentials.
I’m buying watches that used to go at auction for more that $150 a year ago (and even those were depressed prices) for an average of $ 50.
Now, don’t be fooled by some of the “Buy It Now” sellers’ prices. Slowly but surely, even the BIN people have lowers their prices. agowatch is selling a nice Raleigh for $99 in a BIN auction. I also found two Cushions for $49.99 and $79.99, respectively.
I’ve kept track of seller’s wanting unreasonable amounts for their watches. Their listings and they are rarely, if ever, selling. They just fill-up my “watch list” over and over. (Some sellers wait and relist a month after the watches failed to sell.) I don’t think these people have gotten “the memo”.

Don’t listen to me, look for yourself. Great deals are out there. If you’re a collector buy now. It’s a good time.
