A Hamilton World War II Military Watches Story – the OD 55793

987a Army ORD  “snap” Star Watch Case

In 1940 Hamilton stopped making  watches for consumers and dedicated their entire production  for military use.  They produced approximately one million timepieces during world War II.

The first were variations of watches that sold for civilian use at the beginning of the War. The Endicott became the earliest. The watch shown here is an Endicott produced with a base medal case. Star made the case. The military needed watches imediately at the beginning of the war and Hamilton responded to that need with this model.
