987a Army ORD  “snap” Star Watch Case In 1940 Hamilton stopped making  watches for consumers and dedicated their entire production  for military use.  They produced approximately one million timepieces during world War II. The first were variations of watches that sold for civilian use at the beginning of the War. The Endicott became the earliest.

986A Hamilton Movement Hamilton originally produced the 986 and 986A for pendant  watches – a style of pocket watch with the winding staff at the top of the timepiece. Illinois 207 We posted these images from the 1935 Hamilton Catalog. These models came with a 401 movement (only 7500 produced.) Hamilton modified the Illinois 207 movement that came with 15 jewels.
