I’m not sure what to say about these ugly watches. I obviously must have some affinity for them. I’m a Hamilton guy, after all. The management team in Lowell, Mass had some serious prejudice about anything that didn’t say “pocket”. Even the advertising implies a complete dislike of the wristwatch. Meanwhile Elgin ran the score up on them. Hamilton did such a poor job of promoting their wristwatches, Elgin began buying up the excess cases Fahy made for Hamilton. I have one of those Elgins and the inside cover says Hamilton. The Elgin movement movement is unlike any that I’ve seen. It fits in the same position as the Hamilton 987 movement for which Fahy designed and sold the cases.
