The Hamilton Military GG-W-113 U.S. is the last Hamilton wristwatch made for the U.S. Military.
U.S. military issue timepieces have a significant collector base. Prior to World War II, military time pieces had no government issue inscriptions. Beginning in World War II, every timepiece was inscribed, and with the large number of manufacturers and specifications, defining and dating these watches is difficult.
As far as Hamilton is concerned a new US Military specification dated October 10, 1986 became effective requiring manufacturers to provide the US Army with a 17 jewel, hackable movement. In 1987, a different specification went into effect equivalent to one used by the US Air Force. The final specification ended Hamilton’s involvement in providing military issues as the procurement of watches changed rapidly. This wristwatch was one of the last Hamilton military watches sold.
Classic Watch contributed the photo and description. The watch is in mint condition, has an unsigned black dial military with luminous Arabic numerals (13-24 also), sweep seconds and olibe nylon strap.
ClassicWatch has it priced for under $300 – a very fair value.
