What makes 1937 Hamilton watches so special?

Before I answer that, I should tell you Hamilton brought out it’s most famous line of watches in 1937 and the 987A movement powered them all.

The nine famous 987 watches from 1937 include the Reagan, Endicott, Sidney, Dodson, Medwick, Heyward, Watson, Meritt and Bagle

Hamilton stopped all consumer production at the end of 1941 and began an all out effort to produce watches for the US and UK military. The Endicott became the case style and the 987A and 987F powered the watches used by the military.

This is an excellent example of a 987A. It runs beautifully, keeps excellent time, and will probably continue to dazzle 100 years from now. Say hello to a 73 year old movement that’s a genuine runner.
