Hamilton Langdon ‘cld’ Sealed 1948-52

This is an essential watch for any Hamilton collection. The company manufactured the cld (sealed) series in its intent to produce the first waterproof wristwatch. Hamilton produced the Langdon between 1949-52.

This Langdon has its original dial, which is a testament to cld design. The patina over the Butler finish has spread evenly. With the exception of the new crystal, the watch is  as manufactured. The exception condition is highly desirable in a vintage watch like this one.

Some things to consider about this watch: It is a vintage watch around 60 years old and considered an Antique. Under magnification you can see wear, but not to the naked eye. You will not find brassing, wear-through or loss of any of the natural gold. The seal between the Bezel and the body is slightly visible upon inspection even though it is a new seal from 1950’s Hamilton inventory.

Restoring vintage watches, especially complicated designs such as the cld, requires the ability to mix modern materials with the primary elements of the original watch.
