Hamilton manufactured the cld (sealed) series in its intent to produce the first waterproof wristwatch. The cld uses a solid case with a single removable bezel held tightly with two rubber gaskets or seals. This design prevents dust and moisture from entering the case and damaging the movement. It was one of many Hamilton innovations that continues to influence case designs to this day. Hamilton produced the Nordon between 1949-52.
The Nordon came with an 18 Jewel 747 caliber movement.
This Nordon shown in this picture has its original dial, which is a testament to cld design. The patina over the Butler finish has spread evenly and has a golden hue. With the exception of the new crystal, the watch is 100% as manufactured. It has a nicely designed and engraved back, desirable in a vintage watch such as this.
